Then how do you choose which hypnotherapist to is right for you. At this point in may be worth pointing out that in the UK, hypnotherapy is practices under Common Law. And as such anyone can call themselves a hypnotherapist. So depending on how these people acquired their skill and knowledge, the therapy you get can vary a dramatically.

One of the best ways to find out about a competent hypnotherapist in your area, would be to check out what hypnotherapy Organisations they belong to, if any. Then depending on the Organisation, this would then at least show you that they have attained a certain level of skill so they know what they are doing and would also abide by a strict code of ethics, if the Organisation has any.

For me, the National Council for Hypnotherapy or NCH http://www.hypnotherapists.org.uk/ is one Organisation in the UK stands out from the rest as its members have to complete its Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma or HPD to gain full membership. And it's HPD is still currently the only diploma qualification that meets all the learning outcomes of the National Occupational Standards for Hypnotherapy.

This is one of the reason I decided to join the NCH, as they would not have accepted me if my training was not up to standard. If you have the time look, it may be worth your while to see what other Organisations or support groups they have in place. I joined the Brookhouse Hypnotherapy Group http://www.hypnotherapy.org.uk/ which is a National Practice with associate practitioners who have either trained with or whose training is known by the Founder of Brookhouse Hypnotherapy, Dr Shaun Brookhouse. Places for this group is strictly limited as only one hypnotherapist can practice in its particular geographic area.

So, do your research first and be happy with the hypnotherapist of your choice, otherwise any therapy undertaken may be a waste of time and money.

The 6 Human Needs

Tony Robbins, www.tonyrobbins.com talks about to be fulfilled in something, no matter who you are, where you are from and what it may be. In order to be really fulfilled at a high level, you must meet what he calls the 6 human needs, these are:

1. Certainty/Comfort

2.Uncertainty/Variety

3. Significance

4. Connection/Love

5. Growth

6. Contribution

You can test this theory for yourself, I have and I can say that hypnotherapy for me meets all of these needs at a high level, these listed below.

Growth will be met because I will always be learning either from my clients or from my Continual Professional Development.

Contribution will also be met at a high level because I will feel that I have managed to help my clients make the changes they require in order to improve the quality of their life.

Connection/Love again met at a high level as I will be meeting and interacting with a huge variety of different people with a massive amount of different issues.

Significance will also be met from being a hypnotherapist, as it is a skill not many people can do even after they have been formally trained as a hypnotherapist.

Uncertainty/Variety again met as you never know who and what type of people want your help and guidance by seeing you and what massive variety of issues they may have.

Certainty/Comfort this will be met with clients as I am certain that I can help anyone that comes to see me. Even if that means that I have to contact my own support network to get the results the client requires.

Try this at home for yourself with things that you enjoy and don't enjoy doing to see what different scores you end up with.
